Mae-Gotcher-1418659137Mrs. Mae Gotcher passed away at home surrounded by her family Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the age of 92.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years John C. Gotcher, parents Ralph and Annie Smith, sister Lena Tobert, brothers Ottis Smith, R.C. Smith, James Smith and Aaron Smith, niece Paula Anderson.
She was a life-long member of Mount Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church. One of her biggest blessings was to teach Vacation Bible School. She was a homemaker who served others through the gifts of cooking and sewing.
She is survived by her sisters: Mavis Hillyard (Mike), Karen Beaver (Wayne), nieces: Anna Elliott (Tommy), and Kala Whitehall (Troy), nephew Paul Tolbert (Sabrina), great-niece Carla Wilkinson (Randy), great nephews: Doug Elliott, Alan Elliott (Brandy), Joseph Tolbert (Jeannie), Great-great nieces: Hope Wilkinson, MiKala Whitehall, Lilly Elliott and Gracie Willis, great-great nephews: Joshua Tolbert and Johnny Tolbert, special sister-in-law Betty Jean Smith, special brother-in-law Lee Mac Gotcher, special friends: Clara Sheffield, Shirley Liverett, the members of Mount Pleast Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and many other people who called her Aunt Mae.
Special thanks to North Alabama Cancer Center doctors and staff for their care during the past fourteen years, the caregivers on 4th floor at Shoals Hospital, and the staff of Hospice of the Shoals.
Visitation will be 1:30 until 2:30 Tuesday Dec. 16 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be 2:30pm Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Rev. Terry Herston and Rev. Chad Holder will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Alan Elliott, Doug Elliott, Joseph Tolbert, Emmett Derrick, Henry Loftin, and Wayne Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Elliott, Kenny Gargis, and Lin Liverett.
