Mae Dru Reeves departed this life on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the age of 97, while surrounded by her children, grandchildren and other friends and extended family, at the AHC-McNairy County Healthcare Facility in Selmer, TN.
Mae Dru was born on January 16, 1926, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clofus and Doxie Swinney of Marietta, MS.
She was the loving and dedicated wife of the late Robert Hollis Reeves. Mae Dru and Hollis were united in holy matrimony in 1946, celebrating 57 years until the time of his departure on August 17, 2003.
Mae Dru was a homemaker, pastor’s wife, loving mother, grand-mother and pillar of every community that was ever graced with her presence in her dedicated works for the Lord. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Selmer, TN.
Her life will be celebrated by a host of family, friends and extended family members at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Selmer, TN with Bro. JD Matlock officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Hill Memory Garden in Bethel Springs, TN. She will be most highly cherished and remembered as a virtuous woman, Proverbs 31:10.
She has three surviving children, Robert Clofus Reeves (Jewel) of Booneville, MS, Nelda Wyvonne Pickens (late husband Billy Pickens) of Stantonville, TN, Linda Joanne Bell (late husband J.D. Bell) of Savannah, TN; ten grandchildren, Jeffrey Reeves of Booneville, MS, Renee Hembree of Selmer, TN, Denise Robbins (Jackie) of Beach Bluff, TN, Joey Pickens (Patricia) of Stantonville, TN, Lynn Dimmick of Corinth, MS, Angie Taylor (Dion) of Booneville, MS, Pam Crotts (Chris) of Selmer, TN, Tammy Kelley (Curt) of Bethel Springs, TN, Anthony Pickens of Stantonville-Lawton, TN, and Nathan Reeves of Savannah, TN; 14 great-grandchildren with additional step grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren with one expected in October 2023.
She is preceded in death by her son Thomas Ray Reeves and his late wife and daughter-in-law, Betty, of Eastview, TN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at McMillan Funeral Home in Booneville, MS. There will also be a visitation from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Selmer, TN.
