MADISON COUNTY-The Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning released a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect who has been charged with murder on Friday, January 5:
“January 7, 2018
Sheriff Blake Dorning announced today January 7, 2018 that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division arrested Eric Ray Jones, W/M 32yoa, for Murder on January 5, 2018. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was contacted on Friday January 5, 2018 by a family member of Anthony Ray Jones, W/M 55yoa, to report that he had not been seen since December 19th, 2017 when there had been an altercation between him and his son Eric Ray Jones. During the course of reporting Eric Ray Jones was observed driving and stopped by Deputies. Eric Ray Jones was detained on warrants not related to this incident and transported to Criminal Investigations Division. During interviews with Criminal Investigators Eric Ray Jones admitted to killing his Father Anthony Ray Jones. A search warrant was obtained and executed at 951 Scott Branch Road. Evidence related to the incident was collected and Anthony Ray Jones’ body was recovered from the Paint Rock River adjacent to 951 Scott Branch Road with assistance from the Madison County Rescue Squad. Eric Ray Jones was booked into The Madison County Metro Jail where he remains on a 76,000.00 bond as of this Press Release.”
