Madison County Inmate Dies After Altercation On Friday

HUNTSVILLE-On Monday, October 12 the Madison County sheriff’s Office announce that an inmate at the Madison County Jail has died after a fight with another inmate on Friday, October 9:
“The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an inmate died following a physical altercation with another inmate Friday.
Terran Burt, 21 of Huntsville, died at Huntsville hospital Friday evening. He and another inmate had a brief physical confrontation in the Jail at approximately 8:30am. where he was rendered unconscious. Detention Officers immediately had him transported to Huntsville Hospital by ambulance where he was placed on life support. Burt was pronounced dead at approximately 8:30pm Friday night. The altercation was physical and did not involve any weapons.
Burt was in jail awaiting trial on a Capital Murder charge that was investigated by Huntsville Police Department. The investigation into Burt’s death continues and charges are expected. No further information is being released at this time.
Sheriff Kevin Turner said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Just because he was in our jail does not mean he was not someone’s loved one. His death deserves, and will receive, the same level of professional investigation that is expected in all cases”.
