Madeline Free Cox – Obituary

Madeline Free Cox passed away in her sleep on Saturday night, June 29th to be with the Lord and to join her Husband, Homer Cox, who passed in 1968. Born in 1920, Madaline lived a full and joyous 92 years. Madaline and Homer Cox owned and operated Cox’s Jewelry in downtown Hartselle for more than twenty years. She was a member of Hartselle’s First Church of God on Hwy 36 west. Madaline leaves behind two daughters: Wanda Cox Thornton (Randall Thornton) and Edwina C. Tapscott; four Grandchildren: Bobby Harold Tapscott, Jr. (Amy Tapscott), Nancy Tapscott Pierce, James Edmond Thornton (Jenn Thornton), Areanna Victoria Thornton Day (Andrew Day) and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Madaline will be held Tuesday, July 2nd at Peck Funeral Home in Hartrselle for 10:00am to 11:00am. Following visitation, we will lay our beloved Mother and Grandmother to rest with a graveside service at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Hartselle at 11:30. Bro. Mike Gunter will officiate her service.

Pallbearers will be many loving family members including: Tony Cox, Dan Cox, John Cox, Harold Tapscott, James Thornton and Jason Ellis.
