Mac McAnally To Headline Benefit Concert For AMHOF and Shoals Theatre

amhof-logo-250x250-200x190 featuredTHE SHOALS-The Alabama Music Hall of Fame and the Shoals Theatre have announced the first in a series of quarterly concerts designed to celebrate Muscle Shoals music and raise money for the museum and theatre. The “Sweet Home Alabama Concert Series” kicks off on Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m. and will feature quarterly performances by legendary artists with close ties to the local music scene.
Up first will be Mac McAnally, prolific songwriter, musician and performer who has won shoals_logo_bwthe Country Music Association’s coveted “Musician of the Year” award for seven consecutive years. He has written chart-topping hits for four decades and is a member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band. A native of Mississippi, McAnally made his appearance on the Muscle Shoals music scene maxresdefaultwhile still a teenager and was immediately recognized as a prodigy by prominent songwriters, producers and musicians.
“We are thrilled that we are able to launch the series with a performer of Mac’s caliber,” said Lee Sentell, Director of State Tourism and treasurer for the AMHOF board. “He is one of our premier Alabama music achievers and has been a good friend to AMHOF from the very beginning. We expect a quick sellout.”

a few months ago about partnering for a fundraiser. “AMHOF officials were already talking to Mac’s booking agent so we decided to pool our efforts in order to benefit both entities. We believe what’s good for one of us is good for all of us.”
“Mac is a source of great pride for our area,” said Dixie. “He is the ultimate crowd-pleaser and we are so glad that it worked out for us to have him.”
Tickets for the event will go on sale Thursday, April 2, at the theatre. General admission tickets will be $50 for downstairs and $40 for balcony seats. Special VIP packages are available which include reserved seating as well as a “meet and greet” reception with McAnally at 116 Mobile Street prior to the show.
