Mable L. Ray Horton Mathis Mable L. Ray Horton Mathis departed her earthly life on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation at the age of 76 years, 7 months, 22 days. Mable was born in the union of Homer Wesley Ray and Jewel Marguerite Thomspon Ray on Saturday, May 29, 1943 in Wayne County.

Mable was a graduate of Frank Hughes High School. She was united in marriage to Elvis Taylor Mathis on July 8, 1982. Mr. Mathis preceded her in death on November 26, 2008.

Mable worked for Genesco/Texas Boot for 32 years.

She is survived by a son, Mitchell Ray Horton, wife Charity of Waynesboro, TN; grandsons, Lucas Alan Horton and Jayden Ray Horton, brothers, David Ray, companion Connie of Lewisburg, TN, Jerry Ray, wife Kim of Waynesboro, TN; a host of nieces and nephews and cousins, dear friend Becky McMullin, Linden Tn and former neighbor Brenda Shedd, Waynesboro. TN

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Allen Horton; father of her children Wayland Morris Horton, brother, Walton Ray.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Bobbie Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens ,Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of the services.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, January 16, 8:00 am until service time at Shackelford Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

Pallbearers, Adrian Brown, Macon Carroll, Jason Ray, Logan Ray, Tony Creecy Honorary, Vencion Carroll.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that Memorial Donations be made in her memory to either Wayne County Shooting Sports, P.O.Box 736, Waynesboro, TN or Autism Tennessee, 955 Woodland St. Nashville, TN. 37206

The family wishes to thank Wanda Bevels, Sharon Staggs, Josh and Amanda Bullard, Dr. Herrera and staff, Tennessee Quality Home Health and staff, Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation staff and Tennessee Quality Hospice staff for helping us care for our beloved mom, nana and sister over the last year.
