Funeral Services for Mrs. M. Maurice “Ressie” Yates Brownlee, age 87 of Lineville, will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Randy Hagan officiating. Her visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. until service time.
Mrs. Brownlee passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at her home. She was born in Swiftown, Mississippi and grew up in the Craigside, MS area for several years. She worked multiple jobs over her lifetime, including chopping cotton, with an electronics factory, and in the restaurant business. She worked alongside her husband with their painting and remodeling business and working with teens for disaster relief. Mrs. Brownlee faithfully traveled with her husband, Jerry to reestablish churches, their congregation and youth groups for nearly 20 years. She enjoyed sewing when she was younger, hunting and fishing, looking for arrowheads and putting puzzles together. Mrs. Brownlee could do it all, and was always willing to help those that were in need. She was generous in her giving, and was instrumental in giving donations towards Christmas funds, as well as helping the children any way she could. She had a quick wit, and was funny and caring. Mrs. Brownlee attended Barfield Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brownlee is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Brownlee of Lineville; four daughters: Linda Bidwell of Lineville, Ginger Brownlee Tucker (Wayne) of Oxford, Carol Brownlee Hull (Mike) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Angie Brownlee Jones (Darrell) of St. Johns, FL; two sons: Terry Brownlee (Nancy) of Columbus, MS and Larry Brownlee (Peggy) of Vernon; 13 grandchildren: Katie Blake Fothergill (Kory), Miranda Thomas, Brent Thomas (Buffie), Lindsay Killebrew (Matthew), Bethany Tucker (Nick), Kara Tucker (Fiance Brandon Roberts), Micah Hull (Sammie), Michelle Palombo (Jacob), Matthew Jones (Natalie), Miles Jones, Christopher Brownlee, Corey Brownlee (Jody), and Lyndsey Khaled ( parter Mohammed); 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jo Ingersoll of Fort Walton Beach, FL, plus a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Melvin and Bertie Lee Loper Yates; one son, Tommy Everett; two brothers: Billy and Charles Yates; and two sisters: Christine Floyd of Arkansas and Jewel Blakely of Greenwood, MS.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations towards funeral expenses. Donations may be brought to Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville.
