Lynn Wade McGinnis was born to late Homer McGinnis and Bessie L. Washington on December 27, 1955 in Decatur, AL. He departed this earthly life on March 10, 2022 in Danville, VA.
He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He attended Morgan County City Schools, Gadsden State Community College and Danville Community College. In 1977, Lynn began his career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Gadsden, AL and later transferred to the Danville, VA location where he retired after 30 years.
Lynn was blessed with a large loving family. He and his first wife welcomed their first child, Victor Lynn McGinnis on November 19, 1981 followed by their second child, Victoria Lynice McGinnis-Byers. He later gained two additional children, Tameka D. Mayes and Terrell A. Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Nathan Tate and a nephew.
Lynn is survived by his loving children, Victor Lynn McGinnis, Victoria Lynice McGinnis-Byers (D’Wayne), Tameka D. Mayes and Terrell A. Carter (LaTisha); his 15 grandchildren; his siblings, Marianne Bess, Gwendolyn Stovall, Larry McGinnis and Juanita McGinnis; and a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lynn had a love for working on cars and motorcycles and a laugh that filled the room. He will be missed dearly by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Reynolds Funeral Home with Brother Johnny M. Crowder officiating.
