Lynda Johnson Hurt passed away at her home on October 25, 2021. Services will be held on Thursday, the 28th, at Memorial Funeral Home, Corinth, MS at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Harmony Baptist Church, Walnut, MS, with Pastor Sam Stallings officiating.

She was a faithful believer in Christ and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS where she was blessed by the compassionate outreach of the church family.

She was born March 16, 1937, the daughter of Virginia and Arthur Johnson of Walnut, MS and was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Hurt, sons Guy Patrick Harrison and Brian Stanton Harrison.

Lynda is survived by three daughters, Leslie Backstrom (Paul), Heather Crumpton (Brent), Stephanie Morgan (Paul Bennett), two step-daughters, Kathy May (Don), Linda Worsham (Billy), ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sweet sisters, Carol Smith (Travis), Lisa Mitchell (Bo), her loving cousin Tim Johnson, along with numerous brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She graduated from Walnut High School, attended Blue Mountain College and obtained a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Mississippi State University. Lynda married the love of her life, Bob Hurt, and enjoyed thirty three years of marriage until his passing in 2018.

Lynda adored her family and was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a talented gardener and an avid cook with a culinary curiosity to explore the new. Lynda blessed family and friends with her warmth, wisdom, compassion, wit and her wonderful meals. Lynda will be missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to “Dorothy’s Place” (3185 Hickory Hill Road, Memphis, TN, 38115) for the compassionate care they gave to her husband Bob.
