Lydia Barbara Sandys – Obituary

Lydia Barbara Sandys was born May 26, 1919- Lydia Barbara Rommel to Henry John Rommel and Helga Nielsen Rommel. 3 Brothers- Fred Boumach, Henry Charles, and Howard Wesley. Born in Detroit, MI. She lived in Detroit until her family moved to East Tawas in 1932. She Graduated from East Tawas High School in 1937, and moved back to Detroit and attended Wayne University for two years.
In June 1944 Lydia married the love of her life Harlan Sandys. They were not blessed with children of their own, but loved and enjoyed their nieces and nephews and the sons of their dear friends- Ellen & Jack Rice, Charlotte & George Korte felt like second parents to all of them.
Harlan & Lydia loved to travel and spend many, many hours on the road with their vans, boats, and travel trailer. They both loved to fish in the U.S. & Canada.
Harlan passed away in 1985 after a long period battling cancer. Lydia went on with her life with lots of happy memories of their life together. She kept busy with her friends, clubs, and trips.
