Lyda Rhodes Parsons – Oituary

Lyda Rhodes Parsons, 85, of Iuka, Mississippi, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at Southern Magnolia Estates in Iuka. She was a faithful member of the Iuka Church of Christ. She was born in Tishomingo County, and graduated from Burnsville High School. She was a kind person who loved to take care of her family, work in her flower gardens, and cook for her family and friends. She was employed at the Tishomingo County Courthouse at the Tax Assessors Office for several years and enjoyed the people she came in contact with. She had a very special relationship with her sisters, and loved and was loved by her extended family at Southern Magnolia Estates and Gentevia Hospice. Visitation is scheduled for 1 until 3 PM on Sunday, February 24 at Iuka Church of Christ. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 PM on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Iuka Church of Christ, officiated by Lance Foster. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Pallbearers include Olen Rhodes, W.J. Rhodes, Dickie Rhodes, Johnnie Rhodes, Jackie Daniel, Larry Daniel, Michael Walker, and Billy Joe Fell. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. Survivors include 1 daughter – Barbara Bishop (Keith) of Hartselle, AL; 2 sons – Sammy Parsons of Iuka and Lyn Parsons (Karen) of Bruce, MS; 2 sisters – Doris Walker and Martha Sue Bacon (Tommy), both of Iuka; 4 grandchildren – Traci Bishop of Mobile, AL; Brian Bishop (Hristina) of Amman, Jordan; Joshua Parsons of Iuka; and Camillia Parsons of Iuka; and 2 great grandchildren – Christopher and Sophia Bishop of Amman, Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Waco Parsons; her parents, John Sam and Syntha Wade Rhodes; two sisters, Estelle Rhodes Fredrick and Lillian Francis Fell; and four brothers – Bill, Howard, Virgil, and Palmer Rhodes.
