Luther Marion Moody, Jr., age 90 of Jackson, passed away on Monday evening, June 13, 2022 at his residence at Brookdale Jackson Oaks following an extended illness.
LM was born on July 22, 1931 in Dell, Arkansas to the late Luther and Arietta Moody. He grew up in Dell, AR and graduated from the high school there before attending Draughn’s Business College. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Staff Sargeant.
LM was the manager of Technical Services with National Cash Register where he was employed for 39 years. He was a man of faith, loved God, and his church, Bemis United Methodist Church. He served his community by delivering Meals on Wheels for 20 years. He loved his family, travening and his neighbors wherever he lived.
In addition to his parents, LM was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Beatrice Moody; his sisters, Marcella Shelly, Laverne Green, and Gladys Keener; his brothers, Larry Moody and Austin (AG) Moody; his first wife, Eva Yvonne Harris Moody (Bonnie); his daughter, Lydia Bonita Cain; and son, Richard Charles Brownlow.
He is survived by one son, Russell Moody; two daughters, Susan Ragan (Murray) and Debbie Wyatt (Jerry); seven grandchildren, Jeremy Wyatt, Jessica Oliver, Lindsey Evans, John Cain, James Cain, Justin Brownlow, and Emily Cain; five great grandchildren; his sister, Virena Cordell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 11am-1pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Burial will be in Ridgecrest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Bemis United Methodist Church, 23 N. Massachusetts St., Jackson, TN 38301.
