Mr. Vaughan, age 96, of Bolivar, departed this life on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Taylor Vaughan of Bolivar; his daughter, Renee Vaughan Vandiver (Ronald) of Bolivar; his son, William Vaughan of Bolivar; three sisters, Ruth Coopwood of Memphis, Elizabeth Kaczmarek of Germantown and Carolyn Messer of Bolivar; two grandsons, Russell Vandiver (Kristin) of Medina and Rex Vandiver (Michelle) of Jackson; five great-grandchildren, Addison, Lexie, Kimber, Ashlyn and Asher; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A native and life-long resident of Hardeman County, he was the son of the late George and Rachel Daniels Vaughan. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Abbie Peters; and two brothers, Raymond and G. W. Vaughan.

For over 40 years, Mr. Vaughan served as a foreman for Armira Corporation in Bolivar and, in younger years, had operated a trucking company with his brother and worked on the family farm. He served our country in the US Navy as a Seabee. Among stops in his tour of duty were Okinawa, Hawaii and Guam.

On April 16, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Jean Taylor. Mr. Vaughan had formerly been a deacon and song director for Shandy Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the church or the cemetery.
