Lula Jane Franks Roberts, 82, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Reed Green House at United Methodist Senior Services. Jane was born in Mooreville on Oct. 17, l933 to the late Odie and Lavada Gunter Franks. She graduated from Mooreville High School and spent her working career at Hunter Sadler/Lanier Clothing retiring from the cutting room. Jane was a member of the Allen’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school , worked in the children’s department and was active in the Mooreville Charge- United Methodist Women. She loved the Mooreville area and was supportive of all things “Mooreville”. She loved working in her flower gardens and growing vegetables. She and her late husband, Horace, where active in craft show circles for many years.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Sammy Washburn and Rev. Abe Zimmerman officiating. Private burial will follow in Gilvo Cemetery in Skyline. Visitation will be from 2 PM-4 PM today and from 11 AM-service time Monday all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel.
Survivors include her many nieces and nephews including her primary caregivers, Joyce Roberts Loftin and Sid and Sandy Russell. Two sisters in law; Doris Decker and Louise Breitkreutz and one brother in law, Allen E. “Gene” Roberts all of West Point, Miss. and her many friends from the Mooreville Charge of the United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Horace on April 12, 2008, her son, Kenny Roberts on June 12, 2006. Her siblings; Merle, Tommy and Johnny Ray Franks and sister, Lois Franks Russell. 2 sisters in law: Evelyn franks and Winnie Roberts and two brothers in law: W. H. Breitkreutz and John Decker.
