Lula Bell “Boots” Blaylock, 84, of Muscle Shoals, AL passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of July 22, 2024. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 12-2 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel with a service to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Seth Hood will be officiating the service. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Boots was born December 12, 1939 to Annie Mae and Walter S. Goodman in Ridgely, TN. Boots married John David “Jay” Blaylock in 1962.
Boots is survived by her three children, Pam (Chris) Martin, Tony (Kerri) Blaylock, and Randy (Sandra) Blaylock; six grandchildren, Kimmie Morgan, Russ (Jenny) Blaylock, Mallory (Daniel) Gaston, Whitney (Jeff), Winchester, Krissie (Michael) Wray, and Wes Blaylock; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly, as well as her long-time companion, Bob Howell.
Boots was preceeded in death by her husband of forty plus years, Jay; her parents; brother, two sisters. Boots was a bluegrass musician who loved to go out dancing, spend an evening playing cards with friends and family, or curl up with a good book.
Pallbearers will be Russ Blaylock, Jeff Winchester, Daniel Gaston, Michael Wray, Justin Weaver, and David Hovater. Honorary pallbearers are Wes Blaylock and Dewayne Haggard.
