Luisa Patalano Lanzillo, 86, of Naples, Italy, passed away on May 12, 2024, at the Diversicare Nursing Home of Arab, Alabama. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Luisa moved to Huntsville with her husband and four children in 1971, choosing the city for its familial ties and support. Known for her caring nature, she tirelessly worked multiple jobs, at times, to assist her husband in supporting their large family. She was an integral part of Ol’ Heidelberg Restaurant, where she was affectionately called “Momma Luisa” by her colleagues.
Aside from her culinary skills in Italian, German, French and American cuisine, Luisa was also an accomplished seamstress. Her talent and dedication extended beyond her family and work life.
She is survived by her children, Vince, Maria, Sergio, and Rosario; sisters, Giuseppina and Rita of Italy; brother, Vincenzo of Italy; seven grandchildren, Sidni, Michael, Erik, Jaime, Gabriella, Brandon and Nicole; and two great-grandchildren, Aria and Enzo. Luisa was predeceased by her husband, Michele and brother, Aniello.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Ave., followed by a memorial service in the chapel. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
