Luella Harmon, a beloved figure in her community, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 12, 2024, at Wellington Place in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born on Saturday March 16, 1927, in Kokomo, Indiana, and her vibrant spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Luella’s educational journey began at Sharpsville High School, where she played the clarinet, showcasing her musical talent and her love for the arts. Following her education, she dedicated herself to a long and varied career that included positions at the Office of West Street Christian Church, Tipton High School cafeteria, Pioneer Hybred, and Cargill, Inc. Her work ethic and commitment to service were evident in every role she undertook.
Known for her outgoing and social personality, Luella cultivated a warm and loving environment for her family, friends, and coworkers. She thrived on connections with others, finding joy in weekly socials and playing cards, where her laughter and lively conversation were sure to brighten the room. Outside of social gatherings, she embraced her creative side through sewing, quilt making, knitting, and crocheting, activities that brought her immense satisfaction and served as a canvas for her artistic expression.
Luella was especially proud of her family, cherishing the moments she spent with them. She is survived by her sons, Harvey Harmon (Brandi), Jim Harmon, and John Harmon (Karen); her daughters, Connie McClelland (Kelly); and Debbie Longeway. Ten Grandchildren, Twenty-five Great Grandchildren and Six Great-Great Grandchildren. Her legacy will continue through them, as they carry forward the values of love and support that she instilled in all her children.
Preceding Luella in death were her parents, Carl and Goldie Hanshew; her husband, Norman Hamon; her brother, Willard Eugene Hanshew; and her sister, Mary Ellen Hanshew Edmonds. Each held a special place in her heart, and their memories undoubtedly shaped the loving and nurturing spirit she embodied throughout her life.
