Lucy Garrett, born October 8, 1940, passed away peacefully in her home on October 7, 2024. Known for her loving and caring nature, Lucy’s legacy is one of kindness and generosity. She was a pillar of support to her family, always putting them first, a virtue she cherished and passed on to her loved ones.
Lucy was preceded in death by her father, Christopher Columbus Cummings; her mother, Annie Lou Herren Cummings; her beloved husband, Aaron Turner Garrett; her precious daughter, Kimberly Seevers; her brother, Robert Christopher Cummings; and her beloved sister, Mary Francis Cummings.
She leaves behind treasured memories with her survivors; Her son Ronnie Garrett and wife Amanda; her granddaughter, Jennifer Briggs and husband Nick; her granddaughter, Kristen Garrett; her grandsons, Eli Garrett, Christopher Newman, Justin Seevers, and Jackson Garrett; and her 6 great-grandchildren. Her beloved sister, Betty Fay Naylor, and her nephew, Adam Frank Cummings, will continue to honor her life and love.
A native of Burnsville, Lucy graduated from Burnsville High School in 1957. She married the love of her life, Aaron Turner Garrett, in 1965. She spent the majority of her occupational life as a devoted secretary of Burnsville School, a role she took great pride in and considered one of her greatest accomplishments.
Lucy’s heart held a special place for Elvis Presley’s music. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, creating moments of laughter and love. These moments are the beautiful memories her family will hold close to their hearts.
Lucy’s life was filled with love, care, and service. Her legacy of putting family first, her kindness, and generosity will continue to live on through her loved ones. As we remember Lucy, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart so generously given.
Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen, officiated by Bro. Billy Glover.
