Lucille Hughes Walker was born on September 15, 1935, to Laura Nicholson Hughes and
Charlie Hughes. She transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on February 18, 2022, at
the Tupelo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Lucille confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and remained faithful to
her faith until the Lord called her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
husband, her seven sisters and three brothers, her special son, Jessie “Sonny” Bowden, and
her daughter Wanda Walker Chewe Harness. Lucille was a quiet and gentle spirt who loved
others unconditionally. Her door was always open, and she welcomed others with kind words
and a warm smile. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends unconditionally and showed her love
through her actions. She was a gifted nurturer and loved children and babies; she gladly served
as a foster mother to many, many children throughout her life and always loved holding a baby
in her lap. She was also a great friend to all that knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, David (Brigitta); her grandchildren, Ryan, Paula,
Theresa, Camille, Kendall, Chloe, A’Toria, Michelle, Jackie, Pam (deceased), Eric, Jason,
Jessie, Jr.,and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends.
She enriched all our lives in a meaningful way, and we are thankful for the time that the Lord
allowed her to be a part of each our lives.
