Lucille (Harrell) Martin
December 23, 1932 ~ October 1, 2023

Lucille left this life to be with her Lord on October 1, 2023.

Lucille was born on December 23, 1932, raised in Birmingham, AL, and graduated from Tarrant High School 1951.  She married the love of her life, Charles Martin on July 3, 1951.

Lucille and Charles traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world. Her hobbies included bridge, oil painting, golf, photography, church work, and gardening.

Lucille was a Christian and active in church since childhood.  Lucille became a dedicated member of Woodmont Baptist Church in 1961 where she served for 62 years. She was a faithful choir member, past president of WMU, and taught youth Sunday School.  Her active involvement in missions included painting faces for the WMU mission dolls delivered all over the world to spread the gospel to children and helping organize the in-church ministry.

Her love and passion was documenting Woodmont Baptist Church history. As Church Historian chairman she helped publish the 50th Anniversary history book.

Lucille enjoyed being a home maker until her sons were older.  Lucille worked at ECM as medical transcriptionist and office manager for Dr. Mack Fraser until she retired in 1992.

Lucille was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 70 years, Charles Martin; son Gary Martin; parents William Harrell and Beatrice Caver; brothers William Harrell, Jr. (Eunice), David Harrell (Nancy), sister Betty Roberts (Kenneth); grandchildren Kelly, Brett, and Rachael.

Left to cherish her memories and love are her son Wayne Martin (Brenda), daughter-in-law Lisa Martin; grandchildren Elizabeth Banner (Jeff), Carolyn Spray (Nathan), Mallory Allen (Justin); great-grandchildren Colton and Cambry Banner, Emory and Paisley Spray, Jaymeson and Elliana Allen; and brother Avery Harrell (Madlyn).

A celebration of her life will be at Woodmont Baptist Church on October 7 at 2:00 pm with visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made to Woodmont Baptist Church Missions.
