Lucille Griggs Gibson, 87, resident of New Albany, departed this life at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County on Thursday morning, January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

A graveside service honoring the life of Mrs. Gibson will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the old Glenfield Cemetery in New Albany with Mr. Doug Owens officiating.

Born June 16, 1937, in Egypt Mississippi, Mrs. Gibson was the daughter of the late William R. and Bessie Chestnut Griggs. A graduate of Tunica High School, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse, and a homemaker.

Affectionately known as “Miss Lucy”, she will be remembered as being a hard worker, wonderful provider and caregiver.  A Christian and member of New Albany Church of Christ, her favorite past times were gardening, growing flowers of all kinds, and sharing time with her family. Those closest to her will aways cherish the countless birthday cards she sent each year to let them know she was thinking of them on their special day. Miss Lucy loved her family most of all and will be genuinely missed.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by one son, Stephen Gibson (Janet) of Waterford, MS.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Gibson, two sisters, Mildred Hawkins and Alice McCaskell and one brother, Joe Chestnut.

The staff of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care invites you to share memories with the Gibson family.
