Mrs. Lucille Corn Osborne, 90, passed away March 27, 2013, at Magnolia Trace Retirement Community, Huntsville, Ala., where she had many dear friends and cared for by a loving staff. Lucille was born in Hiwassee, Ga. to Leonard Lee Corn and Ollie Mae Foster Corn as child number five. Her two brothers, John and Lee, and sister, Mae, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her only child, Linda Dinges and husband, Stephen; grandchildren Andy Dinges and wife, Taylor, Jeff Dinges, and Rachel Dinges; great-grandchild, Emma Jane Dinges. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Kirkland, of Ellijay, Ga.; and many nephews; and nieces.
Lucille received her degree in 1957 from Georgia State College in Food Service Management. Her first position was at Newnan Hospital, Newnan, Ga., then later went to work for Morrison Food Service at Helen Keller Hospital, promoted to Travel Manager, then retired to Florence, Ala. in 1987. She was a member and president of her Sunday school class at Highland Baptist Church and also devoted her time as a volunteer at Mitchel Hollingsworth Nursing Home and local hospitals. She traveled the world and enjoyed working her family tree all the way back to the 1700s.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in St. Florian.
