Loyal Thomas “Tommy” Bevis age 70 of Florence, passed away Tuesday February 26, 2013. Visitation will be Thursday, February 28, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Spry~Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The service will be Friday, March 1 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Bro.Wayne Gean and Bro. Sonny Owens officiating. Interment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. He was a member of The Church of Christ. He was retired from the Army National Guard Company A, 877th Engineering Battalion as a Master Carpenter and a retired truck driver hauling mail for Harris Express. His passion was carpentery. He was an avid Alabama “Roll Tide” football fan and Jimmy Johnson was his man in Nascar. His great-grandson Peyton was his little buddy. Preceding him in death were his parents, Romine and Mildred Hinton Bevis and Infant granddaughter, Leah Ashley Bird. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years Janice Rideout Bevis of Florence. Children, Beverly Bird (Junior) of Lugoff, SC; Lisa Hodges of Killen, Chris Bevis (Machelle) of Florence Step-children, Licia House of Killen, Kenneth Rideout (Michelle) of Brentwood, TN; Jerri Gilchrist (Robert) of Florence. Two brothers, Roy Bevis of Peoria, Ill; Don Bevis of Florence. Three sisters, Lil Allen of Memphis, TN; Nina McMurtrey of Huntsville and Cathy Oliver of Florence. Eleven grandchildren and one great grandson Very special friends Mike House and Phillip Stricklin Pallbearers will be Zane Bevis, Charles Condrey, Casey Hodges, Jeremy Gist, Chris House, Tyler Sibley, Mike House and Robert Gilchrist.
