A Graveside service for Lowell Chaffin, age 92, of Decatur, will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 1:00PM at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ray Lathem officiating and Shelton Funeral Home assisting the family.
Lowell Cowan Chaffin joined our Father in Heaven on December 23, 2023. Lowell was born in Eva, Alabama to John Argle and Christine Chaffin on May 10, 1931.
He mourned the passing of his father, mother, sisters: Delores Terrell, Loufrell Webster, Dorothy Willingham, Betty Carpenter, Joann Hesson, Martha Gail Stokes, and his daughter Kathy Frederick.
He leaves behind his wife Jacqueline Fairbanks Chaffin with whom he found true happiness, daughters Melba Hale (Billy), Carol Brazier (Joe), a stepson, eight grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lowell was honored to have served in the Army during the Korean War and the National Guard for much of his life. He was known as a hard working man who loved the outdoors and was always willing to help others.
In his later years his relationship with the Lord grew with the help of the Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was an active and outgoing member
