Louise Womack Locke, age 101, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at the Webb House. She was born in McMinnville, TN on March 01, 1921. She was preceded in death by her parents J. D. and Nannie Chilton Womack, first husband William “Bill” Strick, second husband Howard Locke, sisters Frances Locke and Jimmie “Bunny” Laws, stepson Howard E. Locke, Jr., and step granddaughter Margaret Ballance.
Louise is survived by nephews Everett (Sally) Brock, Jim Brock, Bill (Michelle) Brock, stepson Bill (Brenda) Locke, step daughter-in-law Gayle Locke, step grandchildren Amanda Locke, Thomas Locke, and Collin (Camille) Ballance, grand nieces and nephews Mary (Chris) Wade, Brittany (Cody) Campbell, Gracie Brock, John Brock, Denton Brock, and Barry Brock, step nieces and nephew Betty Loeb, Susan Burrows, and Jim Payne, and her best friend Rhonda Mason.
She was the oldest member of Westwood Church of Christ, and began teaching Sunday School in the “barn” and taught for 30 years. She was a member of the Cancer Society for 25 years, a member of the Cancer Society State Board, a member of the Garden Club, and a founding member of the Art Association. She graduated 8th grade at McMinnville City School (now called the Blue Building) and graduated from Central High School (now the Bobby Ray Elementary School) with a medal for the Best All Around Student. She attended David Lipscomb College. She was married to Bill Strick until his death in 1964. She was married to Howard Locke for 26 years until his death in 2018 at 99 years old. Louise was a well-known bookkeeper for several businesses in Warren County. She was an avid fan of both the Tennessee Vols and the Tennessee Titans.
Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 19, 2023, at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. James Vandiver will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The Louise Womack Locke Family will receive friends on Sunday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
