Louise (Mama Lou) Pickens – Obituary

LouiseLouise (Mama Lou) Pickens was born on January 20, 1929, the daughter of the late Luther Pope and Mamie Terry Parrish. On April 30, 1949, she was united in marriage to J. C. Pickens, who preceded her in death on May 21, 2010.

Mrs. Pickens worked for the Brown Shoe Company and the Dollar General Store and later was the owner and operator of the Rose of Sharon Florist in Savannah, Tennessee, where she retired. She was a great Christian woman who was a member of the Nixon Pentecostal Church and who loved flowers and loved her kids and grand kids.

Mrs. Pickens departed this life on December 21, 2013, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 1 day.

She is survived by one daughter, Yvonnia (Bonnie) Lou Thomas and her husband, Woody of Savannah, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Don Haydron Casteel, Keith Casteel and Robert Adams; four great-grandchildren, Alisha Casteel, Andrea Tippett, Justin Adams and Tyler Adams; and three great-great-grandchildren, Macie Casteel, Julianna Casteel and Annabel Tippett; siblings, Earline Cummings and Terry Parrish of Savannah, Tennessee and Liz Cotner of Maryland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, J. W. Parrish, Billy Parrish and Beadie Mae Adams.
