A private family graveside service with military honors for Louis Joseph Lucas is set for noon on July 31, 2020 at Corinth National Cemetery with Father Mario Solórzano officiating.
Louis Joseph Lucas, 89, passed away July 29, 2020 in Oxford MS. He was born December 23, 1930 in Clinton, Iowa to the late Flora Pecker Lucas and the late John Lucas. He and his family moved to Corinth in 1961 when he accepted a position with Wurlitzer, Inc. and remained there for over 25 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marines and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Battle Stars. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Diana Shade Lucas, brother John Lucas, sister Mary Lucas Hass, and a great grandson Jaxon Thornton.

He is survived by his sons John Louis Lucas (Anna), Memphis, TN, Thomas William Lucas (Kim), Corinth, and his daughter Michelle Lucas Thornton (Doug), Hernando, MS; 7 grandchildren Robert Joseph Lucas (Sarah Beth), Memphis, TN, Paul Culpepper Lucas, Memphis, TN, Jade Lucas Bennett (Jim), Florence, AL, Thomas Witt Lucas (Linda), Corinth, Nathaniel Douglas Thornton (Kaylee), Pendleton, OR, Nicole Michelle Thornton, Hernando, MS and Nicolas Lucas Thornton, Hernando, MS; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectively requests memorials be made to St. James Catholic Church, 3189 North Harper Road, Corinth, MS 38834 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
