Louis J. Namie, Jr., a Decatur, AL native, age 83, passed away quietly at home on April 16, 2023. He is survived by three children, Dr. P. Shan Namie, Elizabeth N. Milton (Osborne Milton), and Leslie H. Namie as well as five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
“Louie”, as he was known around town, was a Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor serving the Decatur community until retiring in 2004. After retirement, he continued serving his hometown as a Hospice volunteer. He was a devout Catholic and a strong supporter of his home Church, the Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church. He loved his God, a good Penn burger “all the way”, his dog Sam, old western movies, University of Alabama football and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. Namie, Sr., and Estelle Callahan Namie, his sister Nancy N. Carmichael, brother-in-law Glenn Carmichael and son Peter K. Namie.
There will be a graveside service April 20, 2023 at 10:00 am prior to burial at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, AL. A Memorial Mass will be held April 20, 2023 at 5:30 pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Madison, AL.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
