Louis Gene Holland (LJ), age 84, of Littleville, AL peacefully passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023, at North Alabama Medical Center. His wife of 56 years, Juanita Holland, was by his side.
Born April 13, 1939, in Hodges, AL, he was the son of the late Gordon Lee and Florence Green Holland. After high school he served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. A man of many hats, he worked for General Motors before establishing a successful commercial painting company. One of his favorite contracts was with the Walt Disney Company, where he did countless projects at Walt Disney World Resort. Before retiring he enjoyed several years of driving for NACOLG.
LJ loved road trips, both solo or with family and friends. One would be hard pressed to mention anywhere in the country that he could not name the nearby highway for. He found immense joy and satisfaction in working with his hands and could build or repair anything. LJ also enjoyed a good conversation and rarely met a stranger. He told the best stories and came up with the greatest nicknames.
In addition to his wife, Juanita, LJ is survived by his children Samantha Copenhaver (Larry) of Pensacola, FL, and James Holland of Littleville, AL; grandchildren, Michael Stuber of Orlando, FL, Jessica Spencer (Glendon) of Pace, FL, Krystin Pirez (James) of Garner, NC, and Alexander Boehnke of Bremerton, WA; great grandchildren, Avica Spencer, Lochlan Spencer, Maddox Pirez, and Silas Spencer; sisters, Imogene Hulsey (HT) and Carolyn Price (Jerry) both of Haleyville, AL; many nieces and nephews whom he adored; finally, his beloved dogs who were always by his side: Dingo, Hercamer, Bella, and Prissy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Brenda Stuber, brother Jerry Holland, and sister Christine Pelham.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Littleville Senior Center (1400 Jackson Hwy, Littleville, AL) from 12-2 p.m. Burial to follow at Osborn Hill Cemetery where his ashes will be placed next to his daughter.
