Louil Daniel “Danny” Watts, Jr., age 67, of Piedmont, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, April 01, 2025, at his home surrounded by his wife and children. A Service to celebrate Danny’s life will be held on Monday, April 07, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Alton Smith and Rev. Shane Vinson will officiate. Music will be provided by Israel Britt and Colin Fourt.
Danny was raised on Noccalula Mountain and was a 1977 graduate of Emma Sansom High School. He was a member of the Local Union Hall 498 in Attalla, Alabama for many years. He traveled the world as a pipefitter and welder. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his free time hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes, and riding horses. Even in his last days, he would say that “he could still handle business, if need be”.
Danny is preceded in death by his father, Louil Daniel “Louie” Watts, Sr.; sister, Susan (Greg) Burdine; brother, Paul Watts; niece Johanna Watts; and his grandparents Roy T. (Elizabeth) Watts and Harmon (Annie Lou) Blackwood.
Danny is survived by his loving wife Mary Watts; daughter Tracy Watts Jones; sons, Joshua (Julie) Edmondson and Tyler Daniel Watts; chosen son, Brandon (Becky) Morris; chosen daughter, Stephanie (Wes) Cleveland; grandchildren, Cameron Jones, Colton Jones, Chandler Jones, Dlyan Edmondson, Ethan Edmondson, Vayda Watts, Khalessi Watts, Nora Cleveland, Noel Morris,
Eli Morris and Belle Morris. mother; Kathleen Watts; brothers, Neil Watts, and Andy Watts; he is also survived by a large family of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends.
Pallbearers will be Neil Watts, Andy Watts, Brandon Morris, Wes Cleveland, Cameron Jones, and Colton Jones.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chandler Jones and Eli Morris.
The family wishes to extend special words of appreciation to the Aveanna Hospice Staff, especially Nurse Coordinator Leslie and aide Brianna. Also, heartfelt thanks for the loving support of close family and friends.
The family will accept green plants but in lieu of flower stands, they request that donations be made to The Freedom Center of Gadsden, 1601 West Meighan Blvd. Gadsden, Alabama 35901.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, April 07, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 P.m. prior to the service at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
