LouElla Spahn Martin LouElla Spahn Martin of Athens passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on December 27th, 2020. Visitation will be on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 at 12 pm -2 pm at Friendship United Methodist Church. The service will be at 2:00 pm with Pastor Tony Johnson officiating.

She was born in Amityville, NY on July 17, 1953 to Edward Vincent Spahn and Marie Carol Spahn Kelsey. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Nana by many. She was an active member at Friendship United Methodist Church of Athens for the past 18 years. With a servant’s heart, she volunteered in Hebrew’s Café at Friendship and enjoyed chatting with fellow members over a hot cup of coffee. One of her favorite hobbies was to crochet. She crocheted many blankets for newborns in the NICU as well as gifts for others. LouElla and her husband, Gary, shared a passion for camping and belonged to a camping group where they traveled often.

LouElla was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Wade Martin.
She is survived by three sisters Carol Spahn, Sharon Johnson, Trish (Lewis) Heide and one brother Roger Spahn; 3 children Melissa (Jason) Jackson, Adam (Alison) Haines, Katie (Darryl) Rankins; three step children Lance (Nicole) Martin, Tiffany (Dustin) Wilbourn, Chad (Morgan) Martin; ten grandchildren Blake (Karlee) Morse, Dylan (Matthew) Morse, Rob (Crystal) Morse, Reagan Rankins, Camden Rankins, Cooper Croix Haines, Dawson Wilbourn, Dax Wilbourn, Paislee Martin, Wydner Martin; three great grandchildren Christian Morse, Aurora Morse and Julia Morse; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.
