Mr. Lotuce Lee Hamm Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on Nov. 1, 2017 in Birmingham, Alabama. Lotuce was born in Elba, Alabama on Jan. 28, 1928. He served in the United States Navy from 1945-1948. Lotuce graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Economics and went on to receive a graduate degree in Accounting from University of Tennessee.
He worked as the Senior Vice-President of Mutual Savings Life Insurance Company in Decatur, Alabama where he was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the community. After retirement he moved to Birmingham where he enjoyed many years traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Lotuce is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Miles Hamm, and two sons, Dr. L. Lee Hamm III (Connie), of New Orleans, and Dr. Joseph L. Hamm (Robin), of Birmingham; grandchildren, Stephanie Payne (Matt), Scott Hamm (Sarah), Lee Hamm (Kathryn), Claire Posey (Clayton), and Annie Hamm; great-grandchildren, Avery and Evie Payne; brothers, Dr. Phillip Hamm (June) and Wayne Hamm (Joyce); brother-in-law, Dr. Paul Miles (Carolyn); sister-in-law, Frances Castlen (Bill); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Hayes Funeral Home in Elba at 1 p.m. on Friday, November. 3rd, followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 2 p.m. with Reverend Mathew Bowerman officiating.
