Lorraine Martin Thrasher, 76, of Huntsville, died peacefully on September 24, 2022, with her daughters by her side.

Mrs. Thrasher was born on March 15, 1946, in Neptune, NJ to Margaret Mary Martin and Henry Joseph Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 30 years, Roy Conway Thrasher. She is survived by her daughters, Allie Thrasher Silcox (James) of Virginia Beach, VA and Catherine Thrasher Craig (Tyler) of Huntsville, AL; one grandchild, John Lincoln Silcox; sisters, Bernice Haselman of Newnan, GA and Mary Ferrel (Chip) of Grapevine, TX; brothers, Joseph Martin and Douglas Martin of Freehold, NJ; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Lorraine graduated from Freehold, NJ Regional High School in 1964. After graduating, she moved to Southern California and began her career with Bell Telephone Company. While in California, Lorraine met the love of her life, Roy Thrasher, and they married in 1981. They started their family after they moved to Huntsville.

Lorraine was a devoted mother to her two daughters, always taking an active role in all their school and sports activities. One of her biggest enjoyments was watching her daughters play sports and cheering on their teams. Lorraine enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandson, Lincoln. She also enjoyed gardening, walking her beloved dogs, and spending time volunteering at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Mac Mahon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dementia Society of America or a charity of your choice.
