Lorette Clara Gaumond, a beloved and remarkable woman, was born on October 27, 1927, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph and Marie “Lapointe” Doyon. She peacefully passed away on October 11, 2023, in the comfort of her home in Columbia, Tennessee, surrounded by her cherished family.
Lorette was a multi-talented and industrious individual who touched the lives of all those fortunate enough to know her. She had a passion for sewing and was a skilled seamstress, crafting beautiful garments for her children. She was also a gifted quilter, creating warm and comforting afghans for her children and grandchildren.
Not only was Lorette adept with her hands, but she was also a dedicated educator. She taught herself English to support her children’s educational endeavors and passed on her native French language to them. Her commitment to their development extended beyond her role as a mother.
Lorette’s culinary skills were second to none, and her French meat pies and whoopie pies were legendary within her family. Her delicious creations brought joy to countless gatherings, and her kitchen was a hub of warmth and love.
In her free time, Lorette loved to explore the world. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed unforgettable adventures to places like Mexico, Hawaii, the Bahamas, and many more, often choosing to embark on exciting cruises. Her zest for life was truly inspiring, and she reveled in the beauty of new horizons.
Lorette’s intelligence was impressive, particularly in the field of mathematics. She applied her talents as a bookkeeper in her places of employment, leaving an indelible mark on the businesses she served. Her determination and strong work ethic made her a true go-getter in every sense. Later on in life, she went on to be a Realtor. As a Realtor, she made a real difference in people’s lives.
What truly set Lorette apart was her radiant positive energy and her immense capacity to love. She was adored by her family and was the heart and soul of every gathering. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love were felt by all, and her memory will forever be a source of inspiration.
Lorette Clara Gaumond leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and boundless enthusiasm for life. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. In the tapestry of life, her thread was woven with love, and the world is a better place for having had her in it.
Lorette is survived by her loving children: Diane Born (Wendell), Bernard Gaumond (Ann), Michel Gaumond, Dominique Tinkler, Doris Haluch (Edward) and Paul Gaumond (Patricia); 17 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; and siblings: Jeannine Sureau, Clement Lamontagne, Alice Ruel, and Pierette Lamontagne.
Lorette is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Marie “Lapointe” Doyon; siblings: Lionel Bolduc and Lucille Asselin; and the father of her children: Paul Gaumond.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to the start of the service and followed by a Celebration of Life.
