Loretta Cobb, 91, stepped into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2024, surrounded by her children at her home in Gurley, Alabama. Her visitation and funeral service will be held at New Hope Funeral Home on Monday, November 11, 2024, followed by internment at Sneed Cemetery, Gurley.

Loretta “Oreta” was born on June 5, 1933, in Jackson County, Alabama, to James and Mary Wilbourn. She was the middle child of three, including her older brother, James Wilbourn (Uncle Dooney), and younger brother, Al Wilbourn. She married David Cobb and raised seven children: Joyce Marie Campbell, Mary Jane Payne, Peggy Smith, Richard Cobb (Theresa), Rita White (Kenny), Sue Cantrell (John), and Ben Cobb. She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren: Dawn Thrower, Terry White, Becky Champion, Belinda Hopkins, Karen Lang, Don Cobb, BJ Payne, Aaron Cobb, Craig Hopkins, Casey Cobb, Kristin Cobb, Hayley Cobb, and Ethan Cobb. Great Grandchildren include Taylor White, Riley White, Ricky White, Landon White, Ava White, Sharidan Champion, Lucas Baugh, Levi Lang Jr., Leah Jo Lang, Adrianna Cross, D’Angelo Smith, Jaida Thrower, Caleb Payne, little Terry Payne. Great-Great Grandchildren include Stellah Jane.
Loretta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and even a great-great grandmother. She was a spitfire of a woman that loved and protected her family and pets fiercely. She was small, but also mighty, although you would not know that side of her unless you made the mistake of messing with her family. She welcomed many into her home, helping to raise many of her grandchildren until she could no longer keep up with their energy, although she still insisted they be with her at all times. Her children never waivered in their care and support, vowing and following through to keep her company every hour of every day. The family would like to say a special thank you to Theresa Wallace and Hospice, her faithful caregivers.
She is proceeded in death by her father, James; mother, Mary; husband, David; brothers, Al and James; grandchildren, Terry White and Don Cobb; great grandson, Landon White; nephew, Ollie Wilbourn; and niece, Donna Wilbourn.

Visitation will be Monday 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home. Services will be held at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Monday at 2:00 pm with officiating.

Interment will be in Sneed Cemetery.
