  Obituary of Lorene Owens PinsonLorene Owens Pinson, of Gadsden, departed this life on November 18, 2022 in Oneonta, after an extended illness. She was born near Gore, Georgia on August 22, 1927 to Marvin and Nettie (Warren) Owens.

She skipped several grades and graduated high school at age 15, then went to Atlanta for business school. After working as a secretary for a few years, she attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Home Economics. She worked at the power company in Cedartown, Georgia, where she met and married John David “J.D.” Pinson, Jr. They later moved to J.D.’s hometown of Gadsden, where she was a teacher at Etowah High School for several years.

Lorene was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Nell Brown, and brother Furman Owens. She is survived by daughter Karen (Phillip) White of Oneonta, daughter Andrea (Ken) Crawford, son John (Nicole) Pinson III, and two grandchildren, all of Irondale.

Lorene loved her church family at First Baptist in Gadsden, where before her illness she enjoyed attending many functions. Prior to the pandemic, she taught knitting twice a week, and loved to help friends, neighbors, and family in any way possible. She enjoyed her backyard garden and was an expert crafter.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Ascension St. Vincent’s Blount hospital and Enhabit Hospice of Oneonta.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022, from 1:00 PM to

2:00 PM at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, Alabama 35901, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Crestwood cemetery.
