So it was with our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Mrs. Lorene Holloway Hamlet, who passed this life on December 7, 2023, at her home.
She confessed hope in Christ and was baptized into the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Pastor L. F. Lacy.
Lorene attended Huntsville public school system and council training high school.
Lorene dedicated over 35 years of her life to the city of Huntsville, leaving a lasting impact on the community, following her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Faymis Hamlet; mother, Mrs. Lillie Bell Jackson; father, Jack Tony; brothers, John Leslie & Luniq Leslie; and nephew, Kerry Lanier.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and beautiful memories cherished by her loving children, Loretta (Willie) Ellison, Milton Deport Holloway, Jr., Vernita (Charles) Hyter; two sisters, Georgia Mae (Robert) Battle & Margie Leslie; two brothers, Bobby Joe McDonald & Eugene (Angie) Leslie; grandchildren, Michael, Charles, Tiffany, Kanisha, Tamekia, Shaquille, Keundria, LaQuasha, Milton III, JaQuavious, Shadejah, Amythest, Willie, Chris; Goddaughters, Ms. Delores Manning, Barbara Cole, Stephanie Jamar, Joyce Anderson; Godsons, Anthony Grant, Gary Baker; and a host of great-children, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Madkins Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America (2403 Oakwood Road NW, Huntsville, AL 35810) with Elder Billy Jones as eulogist and Reverend Debra McGlathery-Holden officiating. Interment will be in the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace. Mrs. Holloway-Hamlet will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2023, and 8:30 until 9:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
