Lorene Baker Hickman, 84, retired teller for Regions Bank and lifelong resident of Columbia, died Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Poplar Estates.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Macer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Born March 18, 1940 in Columbia, TN, she was the daughter of the late Willie Thomas Baker and the late Rachel Baker. In February 1956, she married the love of her life, Harold Dean Hickman, and together they shared 48 wonderful years together, till his death in 2005. Prior to working for Regions Bank, she worked as a seamstress for Edric’s Manufacturing. Mrs. Hickman was a longtime member of South Gate Church of Christ where she was very active in the ladies bible class and in the visitation of the sick.
She is survived by her son, Carl DeWayne Hickman; daughter, Vickie Carol (Tommy) Hayes; sisters, Katherne “Kat” Davis, and Billie Andrews Thomas; grandchildren, Brian (Amanda) Hayes, Trevor (Marlee) Hayes, Ashley Lorin Hickman, Ansley (Jordan) Renier, Alec Hickman; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Jones; brothers, Robert Lee Baker and Charles Baker; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Hickman.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Hayes, Trevor Hayes, Bobby Baker, and Tommy Hayes.
