Born July 31, 1943, in Tippah County, Ms. Lonnie was the daughter of the late Lonnie and Rosa Lee Little Akins. She started school at Tippah Union School, before transferring to W. P. Daniel, where she graduated. Thirty years she worked as a seamstress with Irwin B. Schwabe Co., yet after her retirement there, she went onto work at Nolans Dairy Barn. While working there, Ms. Lonnie could do it all. From taking orders, to cooking food, she loved serving people and was able to pick up lifelong friends while doing it.

A Christan and member of Wells Chapel Church, Ms. Lonnie obtained a strong faith and believed firm in the Lord. 2003 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but she never let that bring her spirits down. Always wearing that bright smile, she was known so well for, Ms. Lonnie never lost faith. She knew her Lord would carry her through, and even made an appearance on television for the Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. In November of 2023, she went for her yearly checkup, where she received the news that she was a 20-year cancer survivor. Ms. Lonnie never lost sight of what God could do.

She was a believer in hard work and valued the simple things in life. From being outdoors, working in her yard, attending yard sales, and frying the best Catfish, Ms. Lonnie loved time shared with those most important to her. Family meant everything and spoiling her pets, “Pookie” and “Brownie”, was her favorite.
