Lonnie Jasper King, 69 of Sewanee, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A native of Sewanee, he was born on May 19, 1955, to the late Leonard Elvin and Barbara Ann (O’Dear) King. Jasper served his country in the United States Army before returning home to his beloved mountain where he worked as an artist creating wood carvings. A true mountain man, he was at home in nature, whether it be hunting, ginseng digging, or spending time with his family and friends. Jasper had a strong-will but a kind heart which was exhibited through the way he treated others, even cutting his hair and giving it to locks of love every few years. He was a member of Sewanee Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lexie; siblings, Houston (Sandy) King, Sherman King, and Harold King; and brother-in-law, Joey Bennett. Jasper is survived by his loving children, Allen (Jenny) King, Julie King, and Barbara King (Jeremy) Ladd; grandchildren, Xander, Heidi, Everly, Callie, Chloe, Kyler, Korbin, Archer, Axton, Aralyn, and Aiven; and a great-grandchild on the way; and siblings, Lois (Fred) Bramlett, Caroline Bennett, Peggy Cash, Leonard (Anita) King, and Sarah King Gunn. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 3:00 pm at O’Dear Cemetery in Sewanee. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, (931)-967-2222
