Lonnie B. South – Obituary

Lonnie B. South, age 69 a long time resident of Columbia, passed away at his home Friday August 8, 2014.

Lonnie was born in Limestone County, Alabama on September 16, 1944 to the late Cullen and Prudie South. Lonnie was a hard worker spending many years in construction working for himself, a great deal of time laying blocks.

The family will celebrate Lonnie’s life with a memorial service on August 16, 2014 beginning at 10 am at Colonial Meadows Church, with Bro. Ronnie Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery in Alabama.

Mr. South is survived by his sister Wanda Brooks of Columbia; his brother-in-law: Oscar Bradford; Sister-in-law: Patsy Smith, the mother of his daughter Gayle South, as well as many nieces and nephews. Lonnie was preceded in death by his loving wife Wanda South and his daughter Traci Smith and his siblings: Hubert, Carter and Roger South, Earline Wilson, Margie Nelson, Judy Bradford, and David South.

The family would like to say a special thanks to his caregiver of five years, Gloria Hendrix and Brittany Dalton, Dr. Charles Ball, NHC Columbia and Maury County Fire and Rescue.
