Lola Liles Tubbs – Obituary

Lola Liles Tubbs, age 83 of Sheffield, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Visitation will be Saturday, 10-11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Roger Jenkins, an associate pastor of First Baptist Church, Decatur. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia. Mrs. Tubbs was born, September 16, 1930 in Florence, AL. She was the daughter of Fred W. Liles and Edna P. Pickens and the widow of William Earl Tubbs of Tuscumbia. They married on November 5, 1949. She was employed several places throughout her younger years such as A & P Grocery, Majestic Theater, and South Central Bell. They moved to Paducah, Kentucky in 1951 and returned to the Shoals area in 1955. Mrs. Tubbs was a member of Central Baptist Church. She loved camping, boating and hiking with her family and also loved music and enjoyed cooking. She is survived by her son, Tracy Tubbs and wife Amy and their children, William and Abigail; sister, Jessie Pollard and husband Richard; brothers, James W. Liles and wife JoAnn, Bobby Liles and wife Jan; and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are William Tubbs, Frankie Tubbs, Van Barnes, Steve Rickard, Bill Darnell and Chris Dunston. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
