Mrs. Lois Warden Tipton, 95, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Thursday.

Mrs. Tipton was a dedicated Christian and follower of Christ who modeled the grace and love of Jesus in her everyday life and set an impeccable standard for her children through love for the Lord and for others.   She was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she worshipped and served for more than 60 years.  Mrs. Tipton had nothing bad to say about anyone.  Her sweet spirit was recognized by all who knew her and she was a favorite aunt to a number of her nieces and nephews.

She retired from the Madison County School System where she worked at Walnut Grove School for many years as a substitute teacher, a teacher’s aide, and a computer lab proctor. She loved children and children loved her.  While she was kind, she was also authoritative and respected.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey & Jesse Miles, by her step-mother, Marie Hudson Miles, by her first husband, Robert Eugene Warden, her second husband, Donald Odell Tipton, and her grandson, Troy Eugene Hinton.  She was also preceded in death by six of her siblings and her step-son, Harold Tipton.

Mrs. Tipton is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Loretta & Gordon Pruitt; Her daughter and son-in-law, Grada & Mike Casey; Her daughter & son-in-law, Joan & Rance Kelly;  Her son and daughter-in-law, Harry & Lisa Warden;  Her son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Cathy Warden; Her step-children, Dan Tipton, Janice Knight, and Sandy Jones; She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, by her sisters, Mavis Clark, Marena McClure and Melinda McLemore, and by her brother, Carey Newton Miles.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 3pm at Union Grove Baptist Church in New Market.  A celebration of Mrs. Tipton’s life will follow at 3pm at the church with Pastor Lamar McGriff officiating. Her grandsons will serve as casket bearers.  A graveside service will be on Tuesday at 2pm at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
