Lois Shinnebarger Wendt, 81, of Huntsville, AL passed away October 15, 2024, at Regency Healthcare in Huntsville. She was born October 18, 1942, in Mt. Sterling, IL to Ira and Hazel McDonald Shinnebarger. She was a 1960 graduate of Brown County High School in Mt. Sterling.

Mrs. Wendt was the wife of a career Army officer and lived in Alaska and Europe as well as many locations in the United States. She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting her extended family. She worked in various capacities throughout her life and ultimately retired in 1998 from the Boeing Company in Huntsville.

Survivors include three children, John Rausch (Bonnie) of Toney, AL, Jennifer Conner of Forked River, NJ, and Jimmy Rausch of Meredosia, IL; siblings, Gail Shinnebarger (Monica) of Palm Harbor, FL, Connie Cooley (Earl) of Versailles, IL, Larry Dunn (Ruth) of Mt. Sterling, IL, and Jerry Dunn (Audrey) of Claremont, FL; grandchildren, Tyler Rausch (Pam), Cody Rausch (Sindy), Colton Rausch, Amber Conner Cahill (Jon), Bobby Conner (Chelsey), Nathan Rausch (Sarah), and Anthony Rausch (Amy Jo); and great-grandchildren, Arto and Atlas Rausch, James Rausch, Grace and Jack Cahill, Sophia Rausch, and Ariah Rausch.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Wendt; son-in-law, Ed Conner.

A memorial service honoring Lois will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night. https://pages.lls.org/ltn/epa/Phi24/TeamAmber
