Lois Cochran Frawley – Obituary

FRAWLEY, LOIS COCHRAN, 90, of Florence passed away peacefully on September 3, 2012. Born in Brilliant, AL on April 27, 1922, she was preceded in death by her husband Lester F. Frawley, Sr., parents A.B. and Rhoda Cochran, three sisters, Mamie Cochran, Inez Alexander, Florence Miller, and one brother, Hoyt Cochran. She is survived by her four married children and their spouses, Fred and Gloria Frawley of Brentwood, TN; Jim and Charlotte Frawley of Florence, AL; Anita and Jim Burton of Nauvoo, AL; and Paula and Mike Kelly of Tuscumbia, AL. Lois is also survived by seven grandchildren, Paige Barnes of Nashville, TN; Frederick “Rick” Frawley of Nolensville, TN; Chris Smith of Loganville, GA; Noel Smith of Tuscumbia, AL; Amber Burton of Birmingham, AL; Courtney Mumbower of Destrehan, LA; and Leslie Norris of Andalusia, AL. In addition, Lois is survived by eight great-grand children, six nieces, and one nephew.

Lois was a graduate of Parrish High School and the University of Alabama. Her life’s work included serving as a minister’s wife, mother, educator, and social worker.  Although her retirement years have been challenged by serious illnesses, Lois persevered with the support of her family and her faith. During those years she found great joy in visits from family and friends, support of her church, watching birds and squirrels visiting her feeders, and following Alabama football.
A service will be held at Greenview Memorial Chapel, Florence, AL at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday for family and friends. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service officiated by Brother Kenny Barfield, minister with Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ. Pallbearers will be grandsons Frederick Frawley, Chris Smith, Noel Smith, spouses of granddaughters, Bill Barnes, Kirk Norris, Ryan Mumbower, and great-grandsons Raleigh Barnes, Jacob Frawley, and William Frawley. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Aiken, David Murphy, Jim Terry, and David Webb.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ Benevolence Fund, 1207 Sherrod Ave., Florence, AL 35630.
