On Thursday evening, November 24, 2022, Lois Ann Wright Scheffres, resident of Union County, passed away peacefully at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
Funeral Services celebrating the life of Mrs. Scheffres will be at 12 Noon Monday, November 28 at Academy Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Hall and Bro. William Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Wells Chapel Cemetery in Union County. Arrangements will be provided by The Ripley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Scheffres was born June 18, 1943 in Grantsburg, IL, the daughter of the late Glen and Bertha Nelson Wright.
She received her education in the Vienna Illinois Public School System and was employed with Alumax Extrusion Corporation for over 20 years before retiring. After retirement she enjoyed working part time at Wal Mart.
A member of Academy Baptist Church, Mrs. Scheffres interests included listening to gospel music, tending to her flowers, eating Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and ice cream. She was an avid bird watcher and loved sitting at home watching the many hummingbirds that flocked to her feeders. In past years, fishing, traveling and cruises were favorite pastimes.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 Noon Monday, November 28 at Academy Baptist Church.
Memories will continue to be shared by two sons, William Moore (Christina) of New Albany and Sam Moore (Yolanda) of Pontotoc, two sisters, Janie Wilkey (Dennis) and Glenda Arrison (Tommy), both of Metropolis, IL, two brothers, James Wright (Nancy) and Thomas Wright (Mary), both of of Grantsburg, IL, ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Scheffres, one sister, Barb Fagin, two brothers, Robert Wright and Roy Wright, a nephew, Clayton Wright and the father of her children, Billy Moore.
