Lloyd Smith, one month shy of 94 years young went home to be with his Lord on February 8, 2024, with family gathered around his hospital bed. He was born in Pritchard, Alabama, saved at age 12 and was a charter member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland, Alabama. He married Helen Lane of Wagarville, Alabama, and they had three children, Shirley Streeter (Steve) of Maryville, Tennessee, Lloyd L. Smith, III (Patrice) of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and Bob Smith (Vickie) of Trussville, Alabama. He was called into full-time Christian service in 1955. Soon after he enrolled in Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, Tennessee and graduated in 1960. He has served as a Minister in areas of Music, Youth, and Education in churches in Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama.

In 1970, he and close friend Jack Parker established Staff of Life Publications. He composed over 300 choral numbers and numerous choruses and solos. The company has published and distributed over two million copies of music.

He lost his first wife, Helen, to cancer in 1999. In 2005, he met and married Faith Ann Ross from Greenville, South Carolina. She had lost her husband to a rare disease in 2002. Together the two families include his children listed above, and stepchildren Dan Ross (Sharon), David Ross (Suzanne), and Kathy Crohn (Burke) with a total of 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Helen, his parents, Lloyd Livingston Smith, Sr. and Maggie Lee Burnham, daughter-in-law, Debbie Tittsworth Smith (Lloyd III), and son-in-law, Steve Streeter (Shirley).

For 19 years, Lloyd and Faith continued the ministry, which began in 1970, of published and distributed conservative, Bible based music to honor the Lord.

LIFE PRINCIPLE: “With God’s help, do the best you can, with what you have, where you are.”

The Celebration of Life service will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 126 Douglass Road, Huntsville, AL on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Graveside service will be family only.
