Lloyd Ray Roberts, of Southside, Alabama, passed away Monday, October 24, 2022 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama. Ray was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama and moved to Southside in 1973, his final residence.

Ray was born on January 23, 1939. He attended West End High School (Birmingham). He worked 30+ years for, and retired from, Southern Natural Gas Company (SONAT).

Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a proud and humble man of great faith who loved his family. He was always willing to talk fondly of his family and he loved telling jokes to everyone he met. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Rainbow City and most recently Southside Baptist Church. His family will deeply miss him and will take comfort in knowing he is joining his wife June walking alongside our Heavenly Father.

Ray is preceded in death by his wife June Roberts of Southside, Alabama, father Coyd Roberts of Birmingham, Alabama, mother Jeanette Davas of Sante Fe, Texas, and step-mother Earlene Roberts of Birmingham, Alabama.

Ray is survived by his son Richard Coyd Roberts [Claire] of Anniston, Alabama, daughter Brenda Roberts Schuette [Gary] of Southside, Alabama, 4 grandchildren (Amanda [Anthony], Ashley [Nick], Erin, and Alex), and 4 great-grandchildren (Leighanna, Anthony, Charlotte, and John), brother Coyd Don Roberts (Alabama), sister Sandra Roberts Scott (Arizona) and brother William David Davas (Texas).

A graveside service for family is scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2022, 10:00 AM, at Williams Southside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care, Dept of Medicine Development Office, 1808 7th Ave South, BDB 420, Birmingham, AL 35294-0012.
