Lloyd Earl Carroll, Sr., age 94, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at his residence. Lloyd was raised in Mulberry, Texas. He served in the Army in World War II with his twin brother, Floyd. After the war, Lloyd and Floyd attended Texas A & M University on the GI Bill.
Lloyd’s civil Engineering degree brought him to Lawrenceburg as an engineer on the Texas Eastern Pipeline in 1952; where he met and married Jacqueline Hood.
He was a loving Father, Husband, Papa, Businessman, and Entrepreneur. Lloyd owned and operated Lloyd Carroll Motors, an automobile dealership selling Oldsmobile, Cadillac, and GMC trucks for 33 years. For many years, they also sold boats and Johnson Motors.
Lloyd developed several subdivisions including Carrollwood, Whiteoak, Grandmere Farms, and Hidden Valley. He owned and operated Carroll Sod Farm, Discount Connections, and was a partner in the historic preservation of the Old Public School Property as well as many other real estate endeavors. He was a member of the Rotary Club for many years and once served as Little League President. He enjoyed golf and his family; especially the grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Lloyd Earl Carroll, Jr. and Charles Christopher Carroll. Also preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Cleo Carroll; three brothers and three sisters, Floyd Carroll (his identical twin), Walter Carroll, Steve Carroll, Lucille Englehart, Mildred Hill, and Loyce Marie Block.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jacqueline Hood Carroll of Lawrenceburg, TN; four children, Jane Gay Carvell (Kent), Dan Carroll (Vicki), Sharon Remke (Tom), and Anne Carroll, all of Lawrenceburg, TN; seven grandchildren, Alex Carvell, Rachel Carvell, Paige Carroll Johnson (Eric), Austin Remke, Carroll Marie Blackwood (Orry), Amanda Remke, and Leeanna Carroll; two great-grandchildren, Etta Rose Blackwood and Jack Carroll Johnson; one sister, Bobbie Cox (Billy) of Bonham, TX; dozens of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at Mimosa Cemetery at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021, with Kevin Marston officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, Lawrence County Public Library, American Heart Association, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
